Well, isn’t this fun?!
Welcome to the first instalment of ‘My Favourite Things’ (had to get a Julie reference in, obviously); a little bi-weekly (or thereabouts) round up of everything I’m liking, loving and am thankful for at the moment. How bloody cute.
I’ve realised recently that my blog can be a touch impersonal sometimes, so I’ll be slotting in a couple of these each month just to tell you what I’ve been up to. I love reading other people’s similar blogs, so hopefully you’ll enjoy mine just as much!
So, without further ado, here it is: My Favourite Things #1:
If you read my ‘Relaxed 2018 Goals’ post, you’ll know that one of them is to make my family a priority. My Mum lives in Spain, my Dad in France, my brother in Northumberland and everyone else is mainly dotted around the north – I’m way down in Brighton, so it’s not the easiest thing in the world!
This past week I was lucky enough to have both my Mum and brother staying with me in Brighton, and if there was anything I needed to set my goal firmly in place, that was it. We had the loveliest time, and I’ve already planned more family time later this week as I’m meeting my Auntie, her husband and my cousins in London on Friday to celebrate her 60th birthday!
Just before Christmas, I treated myself to a few goodies from Urban Outfitters, one of which was ‘One Question A Day: A 5 Year Journal’ by Aimee Chase. I’ve tried keeping diaries and bullet journaling before, but whilst I do enjoy both, they are quite time consuming and I’ve never managed to keep them up for long. This particular journal is different – it asks you a different question every day of the year, and you fill it in each day for 5 years in total. So far, it’s been super easy to stick to (though it doesn’t really matter if you forget or miss a day – you can just fill it in later on), and I’m looking forward to seeing how my thoughts, feelings and opinion change over the next 5 years!
Gazza on Twitter
If you haven’t experienced it, Paul Gascoigne’s Twitter page is one of the purest things on the internet and you need it in your life right now. Trust me on this one!
Random acts of kindness
If you follow me on Instagram, hopefully you caught this post, where I showed you the beautiful little January care package that my lovely friend Alice sent me – completely out of the blue! I almost cried! It made my month to be totally honest, and it’s inspired me to do more kind and thoughtful things for my friends and family, for no real reason other than that I bloody love them.
MAC Great Brows palette
I only bought this because I left my eyebrow palette at home when I went away for Christmas, but it’s my favourite thing in my makeup bag right now! The powder is beautifully pigmented, and the two different shades make it easy to add depth to your brows. The colour is buildable, so you can choose from a natural or bold finish, and the little highlighter is a lovely touch too! FYI, I use the shade ‘Lingering‘.
Getting back on schedule
Quite simply, I’ve been making a conscious effort to post regularly on Instagram and my blog, and it’s made me feel like I’m in control again! I’ve got the support of some lovely blogger friends (and regular friends!), and my mojo is well and truly back. Buzzing!
What have been your favourite things this week? Have you got any strong feelings for or against what I’ve been loving? As always, let me know via your preferred communication method (blog comments make me the happiest, though!)
